Tom Tracy Books has organized more than 100 authors from across the globe, representing different cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs, to produce a unique, new resource for parents, educators, librarians, and anyone who cares about diversity in children's literature - the Catalog of Diverse Kids Books. This, first-of-its-kind, guide showcases over 150 kids books authored by indie/self-published authors who are using their collective voices to elevate the representation of diverse populations and subjects in kids books.
We have created this resource guide to introduce people, like you, who are passionate about diverse representation, to kids books with which they may not otherwise be familiar. All the featured books are written by indie or self-published authors with lived experience / a passion for inspiring and empowering children. Each author has thoughtfully and selflessly dedicated countless hours into crafting their book(s) to deliver powerful and important messages about inclusion, acceptance, and equity.

Right now, diversity is under siege—stories that reflect the richness of diverse cultures, races, beliefs, and family structures risk being silenced. It is vital to create spaces where diverse voices are celebrated—not silenced! Yet, independent authors writing diverse stories often struggle to be seen and heard. This catalog is our response, a powerful testament that celebrates these voices.
Children's literature is one of the most influential tools in shaping young minds and opening their hearts. Books serve as both mirrors and windows, allowing the young reader to see themselves on the pages they are reading or gain better understanding of new ideas/topics. The titles included in the first edition of the Catalog of Diverse Kids Books aren't just books - they're gateways to empathy, understanding, and acceptance for the next generation.
